A description of the way in which an end user uses a service.

The value in the UseType Cell also enables the communication of which type of device an end user has used to access the service. This is achieved by using the UseType value UseAsDevice.

The service offering/tier under which the sales and/or usage data in the SY Record took place. 

Where the licensee is reporting sales and/or usage data for one service offering/tier in the DSR message the value in the ServiceDescription shall be the same as the value for ServiceDescription in the HEAD Record.

A value in the ServiceDescription Cell is mandatory if the licensee is reporting sales and/or usage date for multiple service offerings/tiers in the DSR message or determined by the bilateral agreement between the licensee and the licensor. The identification of each such multiple service is essential to the processing of the DSR message by the licensor.

The value in the ServiceDescription Cell may not contain space characters or underscores.

TotalUsages

The number of sales and/or usages of the releases and/or resources provided to all end users, during the reporting period, including any adjustments. Adjustments include, for example, file failures.

The sales and/or usage data reported here is in respect of all releases and/or resources available across the whole of the licensee’s service that is the subject of the Summary Record. It is not just the releases and/or resources that embody musical works which to the knowledge of the licensee at the time of sending the DSR message are controlled by the RightsController or licensor, as determined by the bilateral agreement between the licensee and the licensor. This enables the licensor to calculate the market share of the total uses of theRightsController or licensor as the case may be.
